  • On TV5’s upcoming mystery drama series “Jasmine”, which airs Sundays at 9:15PM starting June 1, Jasmine Curtis-Smith plays a fictionalized version of herself who has to deal with a masked stalker while doing her launching teleserye called “ CIRLoved”. It is not uncommon for celebrities to have stalkers. Several cases have been documented involving Hollywood stars such as Madonna, Mila Kunis, Selena Gomez, Ashton Kutcher, Halle Berry, and John Cusack, among others.

Here at home, here are five Pinoy celebrities who have dealt with their own share of stalkers.

    ANGEL LOCSIN
In 2011, the award- winning actress took to Twitter to express her annoyance over an ex-boyfriend’s repeated attempts to let her know he’s still around even after they had broken up. “Dear ex, stop texting, stalking & fighting me if you’re over na. Pinrotektahan kita pero pag di ka tumigil magsasalita na ko sa pinaggagagawa mo. Respeto pls,” she tweeted.

At that time, Angel had just broken up with Luis Manzano and by then was already seeing Phil Younghusband. She declined to answer fans’ tweets if she was referring to Luis and the issue died a natural death. Fast forward to 2014, Angel is now back in the arms of Luis, Phil is now the ex and no, Angel has yet to tweet about another ex stalking her again.

    TINTIN BERSOLA- BABAO
Also in 2011, Tintin was reported to have dealt with a different kind of stalker — a woman who somehow got the mobile number of the “Good Morning Club” and “Face The People” host.

Through SMS, the woman tried to sell Tintin just about anything. When she said she wasn’t interested, the latter started sending threatening text messages like she would bring the career of husband Julius Babao down, she knew her where Tintin’s kids were studying, and even hinted that she would use witchcraft to make them sick.
Solution: Tintin    simply changed her mobile number. And fortunately, she never heard from her crazy stalker again.( P. Salian, Interaksyon)

    JANNO GIBBS
This one has “Fatal Attraction” written all over it. In 2007, a 17-year-old girl was reported to have taken more than a passing fancy to the singer-actor. Janno was quoted as saying that after he refused to go on a “secret date” with her, she started sending threatening messages to him and his family, some of which lasted up to 24 hours a day. When she threatened to kidnap his children, Janno said he was left with no other choice but to go to the police, who conducted an entrapment operation that led to the arrest of the still unidentified girl, who claimed that she had a relationship with Janno. Although it was later reported that Janno and wife Bing Loyzaga planned to file charges against the teenager, there was no further report on the
progress of the case, if it was in fact filed at all.

    ISABEL OLI
In 2008, Isabel Oli received text messages from an alleged fan who asked her for money. When she declined to entertain the text messages, she started getting weird text messages from the stalker, including a death threat.

In a report by GMA News, Isabel would learn that she was not the only one being texted by the same stalker. Then boyfriend Paolo Contis and fellow “Eat Bulaga” co-host Pauleen Luna also received similar messages from the same number which, they would later learn, belonged to a group of pranksters as the phone was occasionally answered by different persons.

Pauleen said that the stalker even used the name of Nadine Samonte and also asked for the number of Mark Herras. As in the case of Tintin, the harassment stopped when Isabel changed her mobile number.

    JOHN JAMES CIY
Maybe the producers of “Jasmine” should give John James a special role in the series down the line as he himself knows what it’s like to be relentlessly stalked.

In 2009, the model-actor claims he encountered a pesky netizen named Jenna Jimenez who went on to hack his email, Facebook and other social media accounts.
At that time, John James could not think of any reason why this person was doing this to him. In a report by Pep.ph, he dismissed the suggestion that the stalker was his former girlfriend Carla Humphries as he said she remained nice to him even after they had ended their relationship.
