Sought-after model Georgina Wilson is willing to go full-time in showbiz, saying she is only waiting for the right opportunity. Wilson, who has earned a huge following over the years, recently returned to “It’s Showtime” for a one-week stint as a guest judge. “Everytime I’m there, since I’m close to everybody at ‘Showtime,’ it doesn’t feel like work at all,” Wilson told reporters Monday at the sidelines of a press event launching a cologne by her longtime boyfriend, Borgy Manotoc.
“Parang ‘yung mga tao sa Instagram, bet na bet nila ‘yung mga outfits ko, so every day I really think of something new para matuwa ‘yung mga tao,” she added.
A popular product endorser and a cover girl favorite among local fashion magazines, Wilson said she surprisingly enjoys doing television work other than for hosting stints. Wilson, a former VJ, recently co-hosted a lifestyle show aired on cable channel Star World.
“I really enjoy being so close, being in such close contact with the people online and on TV and stuff. I’m not usually like that,” she said. “I’m usually in the office a lot, like working with Sunnies (her sunglasses line) and other shoots. Pero maganda rin na I’m on TV once in a while pala.”
Asked if she is open to building a career in showbiz, Wilson answered: “You know, I’ve always said that I’m open to anything. I love hosting and I love things like ‘Showtime,’ so if the right opportunity comes, I’d love to. I’m always about, ‘The doors are open,’ ‘diba. I’m ready to try anything.”
The same, however, cannot be said for Manotoc, who admittedly finds more fulfillment in doing creative work behind the camera. A grandson of former President Ferdinand Marcos, Manotoc is also busy with some business ventures, the latest of which is his new cologne in partnership with local lifestyle brand Bench.
“When I was younger, when I was in my 20s, you kind of take as much opportunities as you can, but now I find that not being in the image can be more fulfilling,” Manotoc said. Despite his hesitation to join showbiz, Manotoc expressed full support for Wilson’s willingness to branch out in the controversy- fraught industry.
“Showbiz is definitely an opportunity. You only have so many years to be able to do certain things,” Manotoc said. “If the oportunity presents itself and she’d like to do it, and if she feels comfortable, of course I’ll support her, no doubt.
Manotoc added: “At the end of the day, life is a long path, and it doesn’t hurt to try things along the way. It doesn’t mean it’s going to define your life. It just means it’s something you’re doing and trying out and you never know what will happen. ”(abs-cbn)
