Charice, live-in partner break up after 4 years

  • Charice and his live-in partner Alyssa Quijano have called it quits.

Carl Cabral, the singer’s handler, exclusively confirmed the split in a text message sent to ABS-CBN News’ MJ Felipe.

“Yes, Charice and Alyssa have broken up and it was a mutual decision,” said Cabral, before adding: “Charice is not accepting any interviews and now taking a break. He’s doing fine and he’s happy. Thank you very much.”

Rumors about the breakup began after Pilipino Star Ngayon reported on Wednesday that Quijano was seen leaving the apartment of the “Pyramid” hitmaker carrying packed bags last week.

The tabloid’s source went on to say that Charice is currently staying with a friend in Laguna following the rift — a claim that Cabral vehemently dismissed. “The rumor that Charice is living with the fan is not true. He has bought his own house,” he said.

Cabral also clarified that Jed Velasco, which entertainment website Pep asked for confirmation on the split, is no longer handling the career of Charice. He is now signed under TMU Entertainment Production.

Charice and Quijano first admitted their relationship back in 2013. After celebrating their anniversary last year, the two said they were already talking about having a child and getting married.

The breakup appears to come at a troubling time for Charice, who took a temporary break from showbiz last March. On his Twitter account, the singer described himself as “tired” before writing: “I can’t anymore. I’m over it.”

His scheduled March 24 concert, where he was supposed to formally apologize to his fans for leaving the limelight, was cancelled soon after.(abs-cbn)
