  • Pilipinas Warriors learn a painful lesson last season. They came up short of taking
    the big prize.

This time, they made it sure to go home with huge grin on their faces with plenty
    to spare.

The Warriors led by E. Maravilla and Jerwin Ibit, provided the 12 punch to propel
their squad via 6448 convincing win over the Vancouver Hoop Squad in the
finals of Drive and Dish tournament held last Sunday at Clayton Heights
    Secondary School gymnasium in Surrey.

Maravilla had a teamhigh 25 points while Ibit and L. Macinas chipped in 20 and
    11 markers, respectively.

The Hoop Squad were pace by Robert, who tallies 14 points while Fernan
    contributed for 9 points.

It was a seesaw battle in the first half where it registered three deadlocks, the last
at 2323 on a split free throws by Robert, 3:52 in the second period.

But that proved to be the last hurrah for the Hoopsters, who allowed the Warriors
to score seven straight points anchored on a trey and free throws from Ibit and a
basket from Maravilla to end the period.

From there, there was no looking back for the Warriors, firing from all cylinders,
including a rare fourpoint play from Ibit to give the Warriors a 3726 cushion,
6:22 remaining in the third canto.

Warriors coach Rommel Sanchez admitted his wards wanted to win badly after a
disappointing loss in their last finals stint.

“We’re really determined to win so the boys give their best right from the very
start. They’re well prepared for this game,’ he says.

In the Division B (losers bracket division) The Cardinals, headed by playingcoach
John Raganit emerge victorious at the conclusion of this championship.
“Sabi ko sa mga bata ko pumukpok agad sa first period pa lang at talagang
pinaghandaan namin ang game na ito,” said Raganit.
