Library Hours Extended at Most FVRL Locations

  • Libraries to be open an extra hour in the evening on weekdays.

[Abbotsford, BC] – Beginning February 22, Monday through Thursday evening hours will be extended by one hour at most Fraser Valley Regional Library locations.

“The community is eager to access and use the library. Extending the hours is in direct response to our customers telling us they needed more time to pick up holds during the week,” says Heather Scoular, Director of Customer Experience. “FVRL continues to reimagine library services and create new ones based on the shift in customer behaviours and needs resulting from the ongoing pandemic.”

“The demand for library services in the Fraser Valley continues to be very high,” says Gayle Martin, Board Chair. “Our staff is doing everything they can to help our communities cope in these tough times.”

Library staff have worked hard to create an in-person library experience that is welcoming and safe for all. When customers visit, they can still count on finding friendly staff and access to much of the library’s public space and services. This includes browsing the collection, computer and printer access, item returns, and more. An adapted FVRL Express holds pick up service is available for customers who prefer a more convenient and contact-free experience.

To learn more about FVRL’s services, including hours of operation, FVRL Express, online library card sign up, virtual programs and digital content, please visit www.fvrl.ca or call your local library. Connect and engage with FVRL on social by searching ReadLearnPlay on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter.
