  • Nadine Lustre has won the Gawad Urian for best actress for her role in “Never Not Love You.”
She beat Anne Curtis –who was nominated twice for “BuyBust” and “Sid & Aya: Not a Love Story”– Bela Padilla, Glaiza de Castro, Celeste Legaspi, Iyah Mina, Pokwang, Perla Bautista, Maribeth Fanglayan, and Ai-Ai delas Alas to the award.

“Never Not Love You” charted the relationship of a “reckless,” young couple, Gio (James Reid) and Joanne (Lustre) –from their courting stage to living together in London. It was the most talked about movie on Twitter for the first half of last year.

This win caps an amazing run for Lustre, who also took home the best actress awards from the Young Critics Circle and FAMAS.
In his review of the movie for ABS-CBN News, Fred Hawson praised Lustre for “effectively conveying all the emotions her character went through even without words.”
