Abbotsford community celebrates Philippine Independence Day for 3 years now. For the first 2 years, they relied on donations and volunteers. This year, they  organized a committee and solicited some sponsors. The fun filled event was held @ Grant Park Abbotsford BC As of this time, there are about 4K Filipinos in Abbotsford and growing.

The goal of the committee is have the youth engage more in Filipino activities and learn traditional stuff like SIPA the national sport. They are also had a presentation of the new national sport which is the modern arnis.
