  • The Philippine Consulate General in Vancouver wishes to inform the public that the voting period for the Overseas Voting in connection with the 2016 National Elections in the Philippines will be from April 9 to May 9, 2016.
The  Philippine Consulate General in Vancouver held a briefing for the members of the local media at the Consulate office on 06 April 2016 to enlist their support in conducting a massive information campaign to inform the Filipino community about the Overseas Voting for the purpose of the 2016 National Elections.

Consul General Neil Frank Ferrer highlighted the growing number of Overseas Filipinos and that their active involvement and participation in the overseas voting could be a significant factor during the elections. He pointed as an example, the huge jump in the number of registered overseas voters in the Consulate’s jurisdiction from only 10,364 in 2013 to 33,361 at present.

All registered Filipino overseas voters whose names appear in the Certified List of Overseas Voters (CLOV) may cast their votes during the 30-day voting period. The CLOV within the jurisdiction of the Philippine Consulate General in Vancouver is available at the Consulate’s website at www.vancouverpcg.org

All ballots will be mailed to registered overseas voters except for those who have informed the Consulate of their intention to vote in person at the Philippine Consulate General in Vancouver.

Please note that according to the Commission on Elections (COMELEC), only one ballot will be allotted for each registered overseas voter.  Once the ballot is mailed to the voter, a replacement ballot cannot be issued even if the voter comes to the Consulate.

Voters who will receive their ballots by mail are advised to follow the instructions provided in accomplishing and returning their ballots to the Consulate. Ballots mailed or personally delivered to the Consulate must be received before the closing of the voting period on May 9, 2016 at 2:00 am.

Voters who have opted for personal voting may come to the Consulate from Monday to Friday between 9:00 am and 5:00 pm. The Philippine Consulate General is located at Suite 660, 999 Canada Place, Vancouver, British Columbia V6C 3E1.

Ballots received by the Consulate through mail will be fed into the Vote Counting Machines through batch-feeding every Monday and Thursday, from 9:00 am. All interested parties are invited to observe the proceedings.

The Philippine Consulate General encourages all registered Filipino overseas voters to exercise their right of suffrage and choose our country’s leaders.

For any question or concern, please send an email to the Consulate at [email protected].
