Coach Freddie Roach revealed it will be up to his longtime ward to choose his opponent for his final match which will happen no later than April 9 next year.
The Hall of Fame boxing trainer told Boxing Scene: “Manny told me he will be the one to decide whom he wants to fight and when he’s ready to fight.”
Veteran boxing promoter and Top Rank, Inc. founder and CEO Bob Arum previously revealed the names of the Filipino boxing icon’s potential opponents; Terrence Crawford, Amir Khan and Timothy Bradley.
As for the venue of Pacquiao’s last fight, the “Pambansang Kamao” revealed he’d love to have the fight in Dubai. An article by written by Allaam Ousman for Emirates 24/7 quoted him as saying: “I’d love to fight in Dubai.”
Pacquiao is currently in Dubai with his Mahindra Enforcers PBA squad. He is surprised that even the locals know him and he is thankful for the warm welcome he received.
“I feel so happy to be here in Dubai. This is my first time here. Thank you for the warm welcome, especially to the Filipino people here in Dubai… thank you,” he said.
