Oh what a night! Even Those famous lyrics from a hit 70s tune can’t hold a candle for what transpires in Last Night In Soho. Different, diverse and downright dangerous fun is on tap in this totally fresh and fulfilling film from Touchwood PR now showing at Cineplex Cinemas and some Landmark Theatres across B.C.

Timing matters when releasing a movie. With Halloween just around the corner beware the psychological trauma and thrills that befall the central character in this dynamic cinema treat. We all have dreams. So does country gal Eloise. In a star making performance New Zealand born Thomason McKenzie rises to the challenge and then some . Life in the English countryside has its limits so this normal girl yearns to live ( and work) in London.

Through some slick storytelling our heroine may be a victim of her own imagination. First Set in modern times most of the action here takes us back in time to the swinging 60s where Eloise tries to ply her trade as a fashion designer in training. Like a fish out of water our gal is blown away by the lights and stars, glitter and glamour of the nightlife – and a girl called Sandie. Dressed to kill and thrill is the fetching Anya Taylor Joy who has more than her share of men jumping for joy in The decadent leisure dens of pleasure as Soho amply fulfills.

Back and forth the lives of Eloise and Sandie intersect as all sorts of passion plays develop. Leave it to director Edgar Wright to up the ante considerably as things get decidedly out of hand and blood gets spilt making Last Night In Soho truly a night ( and film experience) to remember.

A brilliant soundtrack that is pitch perfect puts you in the mood for loads of fun before harm comes your way. A Superb supporting cast including Terrence Stamp and former Bond girl Diana Rigg ( The Avengers) simply adds to the appeal of this fresh and exciting thriller that takes you back in time and down memory lane. Why even the real James Bond gets in on the act as clearly director Wright recreates a spot on atmosphere that makes us all yearn for the heady fun times of the 60s.(Robert Waldman)
