  • Her smile and quiet demeanor is her trademark. Dr. Iris Radev is a passionate promoter of purposeful, harmonious, and mindful living, and her calmness is contagious. Having a chat with her is like being in a spa, with imaginary bansuri flute playing in the background. Her peaceful aura is opposite her filofax, however, as Iris is a busy medical doctor, author, speaker, and social entrepreneur, who is guided by her purpose of helping others. Her passion is the Filipino Success Movement and Enlightened Life Company which she shares with people who aim to have tranquility in their lives.

“I believe that when people live meaningfully, the world becomes a better place for all of us,” Iris says, which is echoed on her media kit for Filipino Success Movement. “I spend much of my time spreading some light on the 4 key aspects of Life: Physical, Mental, Emotional, and Spiritual.”

Iris from the University of the Philippines Manila in 1999 with a BS Pharmacy degree, and in 2004 from the University of Santo Tomas with a Doctor of Medicine Degree. She placed 3rd in Pharmacy Board Exams, and tenth in the Medical Board Examinations 2000 and 2005, respectively. She came to Canada in 2008 and started her Family Medicine residency at the University of British Columbia in 2011 as one of the thirteen applicants accepted into the program from more than 1,500 applicants. She became Co-Chief Resident of that program and continues to serve as Clinical Associate Faculty at UBC, mentoring both residents and medical students. She also worked as an emergency room doctor in Sechelt Hospital for 2 years, after which, she decided to focus mainly on community medicine.

We caught up with Iris and asked her about her Filipino Success Movement and how she brings Filipino-Canadians to embrace a life of purposefulness.

PNT: What is Filipino Success? What are the objectives of this program?
IR: Filipino Success Movement is a multi-channel platform (FB, IG, YouTube, Podcasts on itunes, Google Play, Spotify, Tiktok, Pinterest, Clubhouse) with the vision to empower Filipinos throughout the world to live up to their highest potential in the key aspects of life: health and wealth, emotional, mental, and spiritual wellbeing.
PNT: How long have you been doing this?
IR: I started to regularly publish to the FSM platform on Facebook in March 2020
PNT: How many women have participated in it?
IR: I don’t have the exact numbers, my analytics in various platforms like YouTube, IG, FB shows 70-80% women audience -see attached
PNT: What was the inspiration for your passion project?
IR: The desire to help people live up to their highest potential and experience harmony and meaningful success in life. I am a mindfulness practitioner. I also love working out with my friends, spending time out in nature with loved ones, and love cooking healthy meals. I also find great joy and fulfilment in promoting meaningful living, and helping others live out their best potential in a purposeful, harmonious, and mindful way.

PNT: Tell us about your book.
IR: The Meaningful Success Principles book was inspired by my own core values: Harmony, Purpose, Abundance, Mindful Entrepreneurship, Meaningful Success. I realised I had a different purpose in life outside of medicine, and decided to go into social entrepreneurship to fulfil her purpose. Amidst the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020, I launched the Filipino Success Movement platform with an engaged following on Youtube, Facebook, Instagram, and Tiktok. I am also set to launch the EnlightenedLifeCo community and the Executive Suite platforms that will offer programs espousing Meaningful Living and Mindful Entrepreneurship principles.

Aside from her endeavours, she is an active member of the University of the Philippines Alumni Association in BC (UPAABC) as a board member, and is a busy mom with a busy schedule.
The busyness of life, however, will not stop Iris from pursuing her dream to help others achieve their full potential through her passion projects. Her fans and analytics will prove her success in her projects, and Iris will continue to inspire and to help the world lead a meaningful life.
