Negotiations to make the superfight happen is in the works, but because Mayweather is yet to directly express his desire for the bout, there are whispers that he is afraid of absorbing his first career loss against Pacman.
“Why? Because Manny is fast, Manny can punch and Manny is left-handed,” Arum said. “Floyd never wants to fight a left-handed fighter because his style is designed to fight orthodox fighters.”
The promoter said that Pacquiao is a big danger for Mayweather, as he has difficulty dealing with southpaw fighters.
The possibility of tarnishing his immaculate 47-0 record is very much real.
“So to get Mayweather in the ring with Pacquiao is a monumental task. Not because of splits, not because of money, because Manny stands the best chance of anybody that Floyd has faced to beat him.”
If the fight finally happens, Arum said that Pacquiao will dominate Mayweather.
“There’s always a doubt, but I feel similar to the way Freddie Roach feels – that Manny Pacquiao will decisively beat Floyd Mayweather and may very well knock him out – stop him,” he said.
