  • editorial (4)The suspects, who were still at large, came from nowhere sprayed fluid and then lit the poor man on fire, according to news reports. Whatever the motive of the suspects, what they did is simply unacceptable. The three males should be dealt with accordingly.
With this disturbing incident, people who are living within the vicinity are having thoughts if it still safe to walk at night on that area.

This is not the first time that such a vicious attack has happened. Many people who belong to ethnic minority communities have lost their lives in senseless acts of violence prompted by no other reason except for the colour of their skin. Hate crimes must end, and the public can be counted upon to support this.

There would be more to come if the authorities will be too lenient in filing charges against the perpetrators of the crime.
A stiff penalty should be imposed against hate crimes. This way, it will serve as a lesson and people who would be planning to do it will think twice before they do it
As Michelle Barile, executive director of the Commercial Drive Business Society, has said: “It’s a human-rights violation.”
