  • The promulgation was handed down Tuesday, during which the court also ordered Ivler’s transfer from the Quezon City Jailjason Annex in Bicutan, Taguig City to the New Bilibid Prisons in Muntinlupa City.

Judge Luisito Cortez of the QC Regional Trial Court Branch 84 also ordered Ivler to pay P9 million in damages to the family of Renato Victor Ebarle Jr. with whom Ivler  had a heated argument at Santolan Avenue in November 2009.

The victim was the son of former presidential chief of staff Renato Victor Ebarle Sr.

In explaining the P9 million in damages, Senior Deputy State Prosecutor Dong Fadullon said the “court took into consideration that  the victim was very young and gainfully employed at the time he was killed”.

The family of Ivler is reportedly eyeing an appeal. Ivler’s uncle, folk singer Freddie Aguilar, said they will file an appeal, adding that Ivler admitted to him that he did not shoot the victim. (F. del Mundo, interaksyon)
