  • Filipinos in Metro Vancouver turned out in force on October 24 to express their support for Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr., who is running to become the next president of the Philippines in the May 9, 2022 election.

“Dumadagundong ang suporta kay Bongbong Marcos,” Joel Castillo said in an interview with Salve Dayao of ReyFort Media Group.

Castillo is an organizer of the BBM Loyalists Greater Vancouver Chapter that launched in a New Westminster restaurant on October 24.

Marcos Jr. is the son and namesake of the late former President Ferdinand Marcos, who led the Philippines from 1969 to 1986.

Among those who spoke at the event were Esther Love Cheers- San Fabian Pangasinan Association in BC; Ana Napieralski-Grupo Ilocanos of BC; Ed Caoile-Annak ti Batac Ilocanos Norte; Agnes Uguil-United Maskarra association in BC; Warren Peralta-Confideration of Ilocano Association- Samahang Ilocano; Hannah Abellar-Solid BBM Worldwide Movement; Arman Arellano- Circulo Pampanguenio of BC; Dave Fontanilla- BCU Baguio Chapter; Cherry Alferer- former massage therapist of the Marcos family; Carmen Carreon and Manang Angela’s-Kapampangan; Maria Tugade-Santa Maria Pangasinan; Day Heleno-Katagalugan; Ariel Apable- Hacienda Luicita; and Lito Pradas-Surigao.

Alferer told ReyFort Media Group in an interview with Dayao that she used to do reflexology services for Bongbong Marcos Jr. and his wife; Marcos Jr.’s sister Irene and her husband and children; and former First Lady Imelda Marcos.

Alferer said that she is confident that the Marcoses will do more for the Philippines if Marcos Jr. is elected president next year.

Event organizer Castillo expressed the same sentiment, saying the Marcoses can accomplish more for the country in terms of infrastructure, help for farmers, and others.

Castillo also said that Marcos Jr. will bring positive changes to the Philippines.

[Stella/Estela …?? …full name] is also a key person that made possible the launch of the BBM Loyalists Greater Vancouver Chapter.

In an interview with Dayao of ReyFort Media Group, [family name] said that she knows the vision of Marcos Jr. for the Philippines.

[Family name] said that Marcos Jr.’s heart is for the Filipino people and he has offered a name that Filipinos can be proud of.

[Family name] recalled that the late President Marcos Sr. did a lot of good things for the country, which made the Philippines one of the top countries in Asia during his time.

In Manila, Marcos Jr. topped a recent PUBLiCUS Asia Inc. survey among the major contenders on who will succeed President Rodrigo Duterte.

PUBLiCUS data scientist Dr. David Yap explained that this became more apparent after Duterte daughter and Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio decided not to run for president.

“Based on our data, it would seem that many of her supporters, at present, are choosing former senator Marcos,” said Yap.

“With a noticeable absence of Mayor Sara Duterte in the roster of presidential candidates, at least at this point in time, it stands to reason that those who would have voted for her and in passing for continuity would choose former senator Ferdinand ‘Bongbong” Marcos Jr. who is viewed by many to be aligned with President [Rodrigo Duterte],” he added.

In the Pahayag Second Quarter survey of PUBLiCUS, Duterte-Carpio was the frontrunner with 20.8 percent followed by Marcos at 17.8 percent, whereas Marcos posted a 28 percent lead against Vice President Maria Leonor “Leni” Robredo at 49.3 percent in the third quarter survey results.

Yap added that supporters of the administration were not entirely keen on backing the candidacy of Manila Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso.

The next Pahayag survey will be conducted in December, with results to be posted in January. It is expected to include the complete list of candidates for the 2022 polls, taking into account possible substitutions by November.

Duterte-Carpio denied she would be Marcos’ running mate after Ramon Tulfo’s October 26 column in The Philippine STAR claimed she intends to do so.

The lead posted by Marcos, Jr. in the 3rd quarter presidential survey of PUBLiCUS Asia validated the results of the series of Kalye (street) Survey conducted in the first two weeks of October, the former lawmaker’s camp said.

In a statement, the Marcos’ camp said that the survey released by PUBLiCUS Asia on Friday showed the big lead of the Partido Federal ng Pilipinas (PFP) standard-bearer in the 2022 national elections.

“Both the scientific and real-time street surveys also confirmed that Bongbong is widely chosen by the respondents as their Best Bet for president in next year’s elections,” the Marcos camp said.

In PUBLiCUS’ Pahayag survey, Marcos was “way ahead” of the other presidential aspirants as voters showed an “overwhelming preference” for him in key areas.

Marcos got a total presidential preference vote of 49.3 percent followed by Vice President Maria Leonor “Leni” Robredo with 21.3 percent, Manila Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso with 8.8 percent, Panfilo “Ping” Lacson with 2.9 percent, and Sen. Emmanuel “Manny” Pacquiao with 2.8 percent.

Marcos dominated the Kalye Surveys conducted by different vloggers in various parts of Metro Manila and in Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal and Quezon from October 1 to 11.

Of the total 2,137 respondents, 1,307 expressed their preference for Marcos. Moreno came second, with 345; while Robredo placed third with 231.

The results for the four others were: Pacquiao, 125; Lacson, 89; and Sen. Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa, 23.

Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio got 17 in the Kalye Surveys but she was no longer included in the list for the Pahayag survey since she has declared that she will not be running for president in the 2022 polls and instead seek reelection.

Based on the results of the Pahayag survey and the Kalye Survey, a “real time, real man” street survey, Marcos would be a runaway winner in the presidential race if the elections were held on those survey dates.
