Darna” Jane de Leon and “Valentina” Janella Salvador admitted at the finale press con of the Kapamilya primetime series that they did not hit it off instantly.

“We are both introverts,” said Jane.

“It took some time before we warmed up to each other,” added Janella.

However, after the initial hesitation, the two later became thick as thieves — eating and watching movies. Fans have even started to ship the ladies because of their surprising appeal and undeniable chemistry.

When asked at the finale press con of “Darna” held Monday at ELJ Restaurant on the ABS-CBN compound, Jane and Janella expressed their appreciation for those who found their relationship “shippable.” “We are so thankful,” said Janella, “it was unexpected, but it’s such an honor din to have the LGBTQ community supporting you. Like, nakaka-warm din siya ng puso na you have them. Nakakatuwa.”

As the series draws to a close, they both said they are willing to work with each other again.

“With the whole team,” added Jane, who said she wants to be with the same actors and crew should there be a sequel or a movie project in the future.

The “Darna” star said the Valentina actress also said they were down to a Girls’ Love project, if there were any offers.

“Of course, why not?” said Janella.

In the series’ last two bombastic weeks, Jane’s Darna is more than ever determined to shield Nueva Esperanza from further devastation and avenge Regina/Valentina’s (Janella) death.

Heneral Borgo’s (Richard Quan) grand scheme to kill Darna is now in place after his Super Soldiers killed Regina and his army got bigger and stronger with the transformation of Ali (Mark Manicad) as an Extra with laser and heat vision superpowers.

Since its airing last August, “Darna” has remained to be one of the top-rating series on television and digital. It has also topped the most watched shows on iWantTFC, has consistently driven over 100,000 concurrent viewers on Kapamilya Online Live daily, and has generated millions of combined views on YouTube per episode.

“Darna” has also become the most searched primetime Philippine TV series on Google. The series also spawned various Darna-related content on TikTok with the #Darna with 2.3 billion combined views in 2022.

“Darna” airs weeknights at 8 on Kapamilya Channel, Kapamilya Online Live, CineMo, A2Z, and TV5. The ABS-CBN series produced by JRB Creative Production is also on iWantTFC and TFC. (E. Ramos, Malaya)
