A ton of prizes are going to be raffled at this year’s celebration of Philippine Independence Day in Vancouver.
The celebration of the 118th Philippine Independence Day will be held on June 4.
The United Filipino-Canadian Association in British Columbia (UFCABC), a conglomerate of more than 25 Filipino groups and associations in the province, will present “Pistang Bayan,” 9 a.m. onwards at Memorial South Park (5955 Ross Street and 41st Avenue).
One of the event’s biggest sponsors is Sukhi Bath Motors, located at 15437 Fraser Highway in Surrey.
Led by founder and presidentSukhi Bath, the car dealership will provide as a Platinum Sponsor three round trip tickets for two people each to Las Vegas, plus two nights of accommodations. This means that six lucky winners will have the chance to travel to Las Vegas.
In addition to raffle prizes, attendees will also be able to sample food and drinks from 88 Supermarket (4801 Victoria Drive, Vancouver).

Independence day event organizer UFCABC will give away 10 lechons or whole roast pig in raffles as part of its treat to the community.
The June 4 celebration will be followed a week later by a formal gala with no less than Pilita Corrales, Asia’s Queen of Songs, as guest.
The Philippine Consulate General in Vancouver, headed by Consul Neil Ferrer, is all out in supporting this year’s Philippine Independence Day celebration in Vancouver.
The celebration coincides with the 60th anniversary of the Philippine Consulate in Vancouver.
Participation at the June 4 event at the Memorial South Park is anticipated to be in record numbers.
At least 40 community organizations have committed to set up booths at the park.
In addition, more than 20 businesses will also have booths the daylong event.
Several major sponsors of the celebration will likewise erect tents to inform the community about their services.
The daylong event on June 4 will also feature games, music, and a variety of performances from visiting and local artists.
Joel Castillo, president of UFCABC, expects a heavy turnout at Memorial South Park.
