  • After six years, singer Ogie Alcasid is to relinquish his post as president of the Organisasyon ng Pilipinong Mang-aawit (OPM) to let “younger ones take over.”

Voting for the next organization president happens in December.

“I gave up a lot of my time, especially with my family (for the organization) so, sabi ko, I think it’s about time that the younger ones take over,” Ogie said on “Tonight With Boy Abunda.”

As possible successors, Alcasid points to Spongecola vocalist Yael Yuzon.

“Nu’ng time kasi namin puro kami mga singers eh, ngayon kasi may mga banda na. Iba na ‘yung mga needs, iba na ‘yung mga problema. Sana someone like him who comes from the band can be the next leader,” he said.

    Superstar

On the family front, Ogie attested to enjoying life as Mr. Regine Velasquez.

Despite being as popular and successful as his wife, Ogie proudly shared Regine is the star of their family.

“She is obviously our Song Bird. She’s a superstar. And I’m comfortable with that,” he said.

As testament of his love, Ogie dedicated his latest album “Ikaw Ang Buhay Ko” to Regine.

“Wala akong ibang maisip na regalo, alam mo naman asawa ko, lahat na nasa kanya. Ang pinaka-gwapong lalake nasa kanya. So I thought maybe an album totally dedicated to her (would be the best gift),” he said.(R.Tan, mb)
