Coco Martin, initially touted as the Prince of Philippine Independent Films, recently gained a new title as the male Nora Aunor and the veteran actress herself couldn’t help but agree with this. The two much-lauded and multi-awarded actors will be starring in an upcoming family drama film titled Padre de Familia by director Adolf Alix Jr. During a recently concluded pocket press conference for the film, Nora, alluded to their roles in the film in expressing her thoughts on Coco being her younger version. “Diyos ko naman… mana sa ina!” she blurted out.
On a serious note, the Superstar proved how deserving Coco was of the title by sharing what she experienced while shooting the film with him. “Magaling na artista [si Coco] … minsan nga, may eksena kami niyan… sa galing niya, ako ang na-Take two!” Ate Guy proudly related referring to her dramatic confrontation scene with Coco.
Then there’s another scene when she seemingly felt bothered by Coco’s presence that, “May eksena din kami na iiyak ako.
For her, Coco, who like her has gained numerous citations not only here but also abroad, has his own set of talents that make him unique and deserving to be called a young superstar.
Yet apart from their exceptional acting prowess, many have taken to notice that like Ate Guy, Coco also has a very expressive and compassionate set of eyes. Nora said. The Superstar even fondly recalled the first time that they met, saying that “ Walang ginawa ‘yan[Coco] kundi ngumiti, tumawa… nawawala na talaga ang mata niya!”
In past interviews, the 32- year-old actor, who is known for being their family’s breadwinner, has been consistent in saying that he’s taking advantage of all his projects by saving for his family. Since it would be their first time to work together, Nora was asked what lessons has she picked up from the younger actor so far. Her quick response was: “‘Yun ang dapat kong tularan… ang magipon!”
But apart from that, Nora said she hopes to emulate Coco’s ways as an actor. “Ah, yung pagiging maalalahanin, at saka pagiging professional, sa lahat, bilang artista,” she explained. Coco for his part revealed that he wants to be as personable as the Himala actress.
