The global press conference for the upcoming movie ‘Love or Money’ was held on March 8, 2021 was held via Zoom with the leading artists Coco Martin and Angelica Panganiban with Director Mae Cruz Alviar and Crystal San Miguel, scriptwriter.
The Zoom kumustahan was hosted by Manny from TFC Palm Springs, California. Three OFWs were also invited namely Vince Leonardo from Chicago, and Christian de Vera from Alberta, and Coco Martini who hails from Toronto to share their experiences.
Global press and media outfits including Reyfort Publishing were invited to ask questions and to help promote the event.
Panganiban shared that she cherishes the time together she and Martin spent while doing the movie. She said that they had time to get to know one another, and became closer and comfortable with each other.
When asked what advice she could give to those people who struggle in deciding whether they should prioritize love or money, Panganiban said that they should always follow their heart. She added that it is equally important to be stable financially and emotionally when one is considering having a family. Both Panganiban and Martin agree that long distance relationships are challenging because it is difficult to commit to a relationship when you cannot be physically together.
Doing the movie brought memories for Martin since he was once an OFW who worked in Alberta. He says he was able to apply his experiences as an OFW in the movie.
Having teamed up for the first time in a movie, Martin says that Panganiban has a good sense of humour, and that she takes her work seriously.
“She’s the one who makes me feel relaxed, and she is very talented, so the scenes were easy to do,” Martin shares.
Panganiban said all her co-stars in her films have different personalities.
“I was looking forward to getting to know him (Martin) well. For me, it was a privilege to have worked with Coco, and he made me feel comfortable and secure from the very beginning.”
Director Mae Cruz Alviar said that before doing the film, she went to Dubai to interview OFWs there and ask them about their experiences with life and with homesickness. She said enjoyed making the movie with Panganiban and Martin as they were both very professional. When asked which she will choose – love or money – she says that one’s choice will bring him/her to wherever he/she wants to go, and one always has to justify his/her choice and stand by it. For Direk Mae, it will always be love.
Love or Money is a story about two lovers (Matin and Panganiban) whose relationship is torn by ambition. The love story of Leon (Martin) and Angel (Panganiban) spans years and is set in different countries. Despite their attraction for each other and Leon’s persistence in pursuing Angel, the latter’s dream of becoming rich prevents them from having a lasting relationship. The two cross paths years later in Dubai, and Leon pursues her again.
