Sometimes, all one has to do is ask.
That’s exactly what Maine Mendoza did. The television and social media sensation also known as Yaya Dub asked renowned poet, fashion designer and bestselling author Lang Leav to write a poem for AlDub, Maine’s phenomenal love team with matinee idol Alden Richards.
So Lang Leav did.
The two-verse poem entitled “Stars in Love” was posted on Valentine’s Day by Leav on her Facebook and Twitter pages and immediately drew over 76,000 reactions (formerly likes) and 13,000 shares on Facebook. On Twitter, Leav’s original tweet currently has 17,000 likes and over 9,000 retweets.
Thrilled with her Valentine’s gift for their love team, Maine promptly shared Leav’s post on Twitter and Instagram.
“Lang Leav wrote a piece for AlDub this Valentines!!! *fan girling* I love her and I am a big fan of hers ever since! I am so happy, thank you so so much for this @langleav! Happy Valentines Day, everyone!,” she posted.
On Twitter, Maine’s similar thank you tweet to Leav and Valentine’s greeting to her and partner and fellow author Michael Faudet has 20,000 likes and over 7.9k retweets as of posting time:
Omg this means a lot to me, thank you very much! Happy Valentines to you and @MichaelFaudet!

Born in Thailand, Leav’s family moved to Australia when she was five and has been based there since. She first gained prominence when a poem she published at her microblogging page in Tumblr caught the attention of netizens everywhere.
Leav went on to become the international best-selling author of “Love & Misadventure,” “Memories” and “Lullabies”, which won the 2014 Goodreads Choice award for poetry. Her work has also been featured in prestigious publications like The Straits Times, The Guardian and The New York Times. She visited the Philippines in 2014 to sign her books.
As for Alden, the actor has yet to retweet or acknowledge the poem. His February 13 post on Instagram showing a snapshot of AlDub taken by the Polaroid-like Instax camera and simply captioned, “Two is better than one…” generated over 100,000 likes.
An earlier tweet of the two inside the car for their “Valentine date” earned 49,000 likes and 22,000 retweets, suggesting that seven months after AlDub’s popularity exploded, the love team continues to maintain its strong following. (E. Sallan, Interaksyon)
