AGA Muhlach regrets he was not present to receive his first award as TV host of a travel show in this year’s Star Awards for TV of the Philippine Movie Press Club. For more than a week now, Aga has been in the US with his wife, Charlene Gonzales, and their twins, Atasha and Andres. They hope to be back for the New Year.
The Muhlachs own a house in Las Vegas, Nevada. They make it a point to visit their US residence twice a year. “Tina-timing namin when the kids (now 13) are on vacation,” said Aga.
Atasha and Andres study in international schools. Atasha is enrolled at the British School; Andres at the International School Manila.
Of his latest award, Aga says he is simply overwhelmed. “Kasi, let’s face it, hosting is not my territory.
Mas kilala ako bilang actor. And, I think, I excel in it. Well, based on the acting awards I’ve won as early as my ‘Muguelito’ days,” Aga revealed.
“Miguelito” was his first drama movie as a teenager. It was directed by the late Lino Brocka. Aga also feels doubly grateful to TV5, specifically to its chairman, Manny Pangilinan, who gave him the chance to host “Pinoy Explorer.”
“With the show, I was able to travel and explore places in the Philippines and other countries, mga lugar na ‘di ko inisip na mapupuntahan at mararating ko.
Upon his arrival from the US, he hopes to be able to meet with Star Cinema’s managing director, Malou Santos, who suggested that he reunite with Lea Salonga in a movie. Aga and Lea have appeared in two movies when they were both single.
These were “Bakit Labis Kitang Mahal,” produced by OctoArts Films and directed by Joey Javier Reyes, and “Sana Maulit Muli,” a Star Cinema offering, directed by Olive Lamasan.
“Hindi sa pagbubuhat ng bangko,” he smiled, “both films did very well at the tills.
“Itanong n’yo pa kay Lea,” he added.
Lea is married to Robert Chien, with whom she has a daughter, Nicole. (E. Ramos, Malaya)
