  • From the wedding of the longtime couple Iya Villana and Drew Arellano to the engagement of GMA- 7 leading ladies Marian Rivera and Heart Evangelista, 2014 is indeed the year for love. One thing that has been notable this year is show business is the number of celebrity couples who got engaged and got married.

Here’s a rundown of some of the notable celebrity engagements and weddings of 2014.
    1. Marian Rivera and Dingdong Dantes
It was in August this year when Dingdong Dantes proposed to Marian Rivera in her Saturday primetime dance show “Marian,” where he was a guest for the actress’ birthday special. After a few special presentations, Dingdong was on his knees and asked Marian to marry him. The actress responded with a hug and a kiss. The two have been together for almost seven years now and went through a lot of ups and downs: namely, the fans linking Marian in Dingdong’s breakup with Karylle Tatlonghari and Marian’s rift with Heart that allegedly rooted from Heart’s planned project with Dingdong. Despite all these controversies, Marian and Dingdong’s relationship remained strong and they will be tying the knot on December 30, 2014 at the Immaculate Concepcion Church in Cubao, Quezon City where the actor was baptized.

    2. Heart Evangelista and Sen. Francis “Chiz” Escudero
Just before everyone fell asleep on Saturday, Augusy 23, netizens were surprised by the news that Heart Evangelista is engaged to Sen. Francis “Chiz” Escudero.
The engagement happened in Escudero’s hometown, Sorsogon. Their engagement happened after the two repeatedly stated in press interviews that a wedding proposal won’t happen any time soon due. The couple seems to love to surprise the public. They also took people by surprise when Chiz admitted his relationship with Heart after being pressed by Kris Aquino in her morning show “Kris TV.” The couple had their own share of controversies, especially after Heart’s parents expressed their disapproval of Chiz. Yet the couple had a strong two-year relationship, got engaged and will tie the knot on February 15, 2015 at Balesin Island Resort in Mauban, Quezon.

    3. Karylle Tatlonghari and Yael Yuzon
Karylle Tatlonghari confirmed on February that she’ll be tying the knot with Spongecola lead vocalist Yael Yuzon. The reports about their engagement first came out in December 2013, although the couple initially refused to address the rumors. The two have been together for more than two years before they got married. The wedding happened March 21, at the San Antonio de Padua church, in Tagaytay. It was attended by the couple’s family, relatives and close friends.

    4. Jericho Rosales and Kim Jones
If some took a number of years before deciding to settle down, this was not the case with Jericho Rosales and Kim Jones. In a previous interview with he couple, they explained that they chose to have a beach wedding because of their love of surfing and beach.

    5. Chito Miranda and Neri Naig
Controversies just made Chito Miranda and Neri Naig’s relationship stronger. In July 2013, the couple faced a big controversy after their sex video was leaked online. On August the same year, an alleged part two of the video came out and further tested their relationship. Chito immediately took action to protect Neri by seeking the help of NBI to trace who uploaded the videos. He also made statement through his social networking sites, defending her girlfriend from her bashers and told them that this controversy won’t bring them down. Last May, Chito arranged a surprise proposal to Neri through the help of his friends. It was an emotional proposal that happened in Tagaytay. The couple married Decmeber of this year.

    6. Aiza Seguerra and Liza Dino
Not everyone may be open-minded about the relationship of Aiza Seguerra and Liza Diño, but they proved that love conquers all. After their first anniversary on January, Aiza arranged a surprise proposal for Liza in February, at the staging of the former’s musical at the University of the Philippines. The two planned two weddings, one held in America with family and close friends, and another here in Manila on 2015 for their colleagues and other friends. The wedding in US happened on December 8 in California. One of their principal sponsors is Aiza’s co-star in “Be Careful With My Heart,” Sylvia Sanchez. Now that they’re officially a wedded couple, with Liza’s daughter Amara, “Nagsimula na ang buhay ko,” said Aiza.

    7. Bianca Gonzalez and JC Intal
After being together for four years, JC Intal proposed to Bianca Gonzalez March this year. The basketball cager pulled off a surprise proposal for Bianca at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport before she left for London. The couple has been hands- on for the wedding preparations. They exchanged “I do’s” on Dec. 4, in El Nido, Palawan, six days earlier than their announced wedding date. The couple’s fans found out about their private wedding through their friend Chezka Kramer.

    8. Iya Villana and Drew Arellano
During the nine-year relationship of Iya Villania and Drew Arellano, they were always asked by the press when they plan to settle down, to which they always reply, “We’re not in a hurry.” In December 2013, STAR entertainment editor Ricky Lo revealed in his column, Funfare, that the two are getting married January 2014. True enough, before the January 2014 ended, Iya and Drew tied the knot in Batangas, attended by family members and close friends. The wedding happened by the beach since both of them love the outdoors.

    9. Yeng Constantino and Victor Asuncion
Yeng Constantino and her non-showbiz boyfriend Victor Asuncion have decided to settle down one year after they became a couple. Yeng made the announcement in March through her Instagram
account. Some may think it was all sudden, yet the Kapamilya artist said in previous interviews that people shouldn’t be afraid to enter marriage. Their wedding will happen on February 14, 2015 somewhere near Metro Manila and will head to their honeymoon in Maldives.

    10. Isabel Oli and John Prats
After a year of being together, John Prats proposed to Isabel Oli in September. The Kapamilya actor proposed to the Kapuso actress through a flash mob in Eastwood Mall. Some of their family members and friends are there like Camille Prats, Sam Milby, Chynna Ortaleza and Angelica Panganiban.
