  • mj-anchetaMJ Ancheta is well on her way to building a name in music. The young singer is a member of the elite batch of finalists to the first Canada-wide grand finals of the Pinoy New Talent (PNT) Idol contest to be held in Vancouver in 2014. Ancheta earned the right to be in this select group after she and three other contestants were hailed as champions in the BC fi­nals of the PNT Idol competition for 2013. The contest is produced by the ReyFort Media Group of Metro Vancouver.

    In that contest, Ancheta inter­preted Mariah Carey’s popular. It’s an outstanding achievement for Ancheta whose roots go back to General Santos City in the Philippines. Mark arrived in Canada with a working visa in 2008 (Provincial Nominee) then after 3 years of stay in Canada. His family arrived in Canada on November 2011. She is the daiughter of Mark Baliton Ancheta, who hails from Lebe, Kiamba, Sarangani Prov- ince, and was educated in General Santos City.

    Mark finished BS Marine Engi- neering at General Santos City’s Mindanao Polytechnic College.  in electrical and electronics training from the Goldenstate College of General Santos City. A certified musician, Mark is a talented singer. He currently works at the Vitrum Industries Ltd., Langley City, British Columbia, Canada. Ancheta’s mother Charizza Narvaez Mallare hails from Po- blacion, Maitum, Sarangani Province.

    Like Mark, Charizza has called General Santos home for many years. She is a graduate of Bachelor of Science in Commerce in Notre Dame Dadiangas University. She has worked in the Department of Agrarian Reform both in Sarangani Province and General Santos City. Charizza has a license in Early Childhood Education (ECE) in British Columbia, Canada. The young singer Ancheta is known to many as MJ, which stands for Marzzhia Janine.

    Only 12 years old, she has earned various awards for her singing talent. She was the 2nd runner up in the Pop Idol competition in South Cotabato, Sultan Kudarat, Sarangani Province and General Santos City areas. Ancheta has also competed in the Munting Tinig ng Gensan (Kalilangan) in General Santos City. She likewise joined the Gen­san Popstar competition in Gen­eral Santos City.

    In Canada, Ancheta was de­clared grand champion of Pinoy New Talent(PNT) Season 5 2012 in the Kids Category. Ancheta was also the grand champion of British Columbia (BC) Junior Talent 2012, Kids Category, which was sponsored by The NOW Newspaper. She has a five year old brother Chazzi Marc (Chazzi) Ancheta.
