The Harana Chorale, a Filipino singing group, was established in the summer of 2024. Arnel, Brenda, Daisy, Eboy, Homer, Jiggs, Jonathan, Loraine, Marlowe, Marie, Meann, and Vivian are among the talented individuals who have joined from different parishes on the lower mainland.

Their passion for music, long-standing friendship, and commitment to service have garnered them a wider audience, which humbles and continues to amaze them.

To highlight Filipino culture and arts in British Columbia, the group has participated in several Filipino celebrations like the Pinoy Festival, Taste of Manila , and Pinoy Fiesta held in public parks through out Metro Vancouver , BC.

The repertoire of the Harana Chorale focuses on classic folk songs, or kundiman, including pieces such as “Pipit” and “Kung Ako’y Mag-aasawa,” among others. This invites audiences to sing along during shows. The group also loves singing timeless OPM (Original Pilipino Music) hits, which were showcased at the recent Pinoy Band Aid Benefit Concert in October at the Chandos Pattison Auditorium in Surrey. The crowd was captivated and delighted by their performances as they belted out legendary love songs individually, showcasing their musical abilities, that evoke nostalgia. The group rendition of the song “Ngayon,” popularized by the legend singer Basil Valdez, was the standout moment of the group performance. The lyrics stress optimism and encouragement, aligning with the overall theme.

On November 29, 2024, Harana Chorale will make a comeback at Chandos Pattison Auditorium. The group feels privileged to be among the opening acts for the highly awaited Sharon Cuneta and Gabby Concepcion’s Dear Heart concert tour in Vancouver, BC.

The Harana Chorale will enchant you with a selection of heartfelt songs that will uplift your spirit, bring you joy, and make you long for home particularly during the holiday season.
