  • HOLLYWOOD — Ahead of their film’s US release and an LA film festival celebration, Kathryn Bernardo and Alden Richards are gearing up for the history-making US release of “Hello, Love Again,” a movie that aims to captivate audiences not only in the Philippines and will now also reach viewers worldwide.

Bernardo and Richards recently started their “Hello, Love, Again” international promos with a series of interviews with American press.

The film produced by ABS-CBN Films and GMA Pictures will have the widest North America release ever for a Filipino film.

Asked of how she thinks “Hello, Love Again” will resonate with new audiences as they promote the film not only to Filipino but also doing press conference for the mainstream US media, Bernardo replied:

“I think it’s just very relatable, because ‘di ba ‘yung concept and the story revolves around Joy and Ethan na OFW, also known as international workers. So it’s just good na ma-share hindi lang sa kapwa Pilipino natin kasi I don’t think may enough projects tayo na nakikita nila ‘yung life ng mga Pilipino, kung ano ang pinagdaanan nila, living abroad and all the struggles. So it’s nice to have a sneak peek of that. So it’s good to share this with fellow Filipinos. I don’t think there are enough projects wherein you can really see the life of overseas Filipinos, their experiences.”

Preparing to embark on an international promo tour, Richards shared his excitement for the opportunity to showcase Filipino filmmaking to a global audience.

“Being able to to be part of this film and being able to have it shown globally is a great opportunity for us, and hopefully this won’t be the last and sana mas marami pang pelikula ang makilala sa buong mundo,” Richards said.

A big part of the movie portrays the largely untold harsh realities that Filipino overseas foreign workers went through as the world changed in 2020.

When asked of how the pandemic changed him, Richards said: “To pause every now and then. Life is short. The pandemic also taught me how to take care of myself as well. Medyo well-known ako to be work, work, work, work. (laughs) But that moment in time taught me how to pause and take care of myself also, as much as I’m taking care of the people around me. And with the way Ethan naman in the movie reflects that kind of situation, talagang you have to live with the choices that you make because that’s your decision. I’m sort of well known to work, work, work, work.

“Hello, Love, Again” will be shown in North American theaters starting November 15.

It will also screen at the Los Angeles-based Asian World Film Festival on November 20 as its closing night film with the stars and director Cathy Garcia-Sampana in attendance.  (abs-cbn)
