Middle age frenzy describes the attitude of a “mature” woman on the move and on the make in Gloria. Hot from Chile this Mongrel Media release is escalating temperatures at select Cineplex auditoriums around B.C. Crises in mid life affect everyone.
From the outset we see the plight of Gloria. Looking for love in all the wrong places sort of captures the essence of this fragile conflicted character well presented on screen by Paulina Garcia. Scores of old folks will relate to this grown woman’s plight as she enjoys a more than occasional night out on the town. Odds aren’t that good that most men would fall for an aging woman at a dance club.
Still, eye contact is essential and this lovely lass latches onto a similarly old Rudolfo. Like Gloria he has baggage galore well presented by Sergio Hernandez. Together this pair make a true odd couple as their romance has numerous sparks and fizzles in this slightly long 210 minute affair.
Told in Chilean by director/ writer Sebastian Lelio Gloria is all about a lonely woman trying to rekindle her sex drive with debatable success.
