Eat Kanadiyan, a fast rising favourite Filipino fastfood, celebrated its first year with an all-you-can-eat party at the Royal Palace Hall in Burnaby. Attended by more than 200 guests, the EK celebration was a feast for the eyes and the tummy, as guests sampled their best food offerings at the restaurant.

Cocoy Vidanes, one of EK’s six partners, said that the celebration was one way to give EK customers a big thank you for their ever-growing business and clientele. He said that all their offerings in the past year were welcomed with great support from their customers.

With a live band, games and a presentation by Black Arrow Self Defense Martial Arts and Kamot Mindanao, as well as raffle prizes handed out by Mylene Lim Mortgages and other sponsors, the night was capped off by dancing and celebrating.

MLA Mable Elmore, an avid supporter of Filipino-Canadian businesses and projects, was there with her mother, Maria, who is also involved in the community, especially with the Sto. Nino Shrine Project. She and her mom recently went on a vacation in the Philippines where Mable immersed herself in her roots in Cebu. She thanked the guests who came and announced the ongoing project of building a cultural centre for the Filipinos in Vancouver, and then thanked and congratulated EK for bringing Filipino flavours to Canadian communities.

EK’s fantastic six includes Cocoy and Sheila Vidanes, Audrey and Roy Lim, and Mai and PJ Carriedo. EK is located inside Lucky Supermarket along King George Boulevard in Surrey.
