Forever Young Seniors Society is a non-profit and a senior oriented social organization officially formed on December 2002. Since its inception, it spearhead to become a favourite Sunday event among the Filipino seniors and the mainstream, providing a communal atmosphere of camaraderie and harmony among the youth and the matured. It’s powerful dynamics created a social mode of fun, community and dancing activities.
Last Sunday, Dec. 7, 2014, Forever Young Seniors Society held its 12th Induction of Officers. The founding member and director, Romeo Mercado, is heading into his 12th tenure and alleged to be the longest serving president among the rest of the leaders in several Filipino associations. His message during his speech was straightforward and powerful. He said, “The success of Forever Young was generated from the team efforts of the FYSS Directors and officers. Our group has just one goal 7 objective and that is to provide enjoyment and high spirited fun to our members.” “Because of that trust and loyalty from our attendees, we were inspired to be the best among the best— and the welfare of our members come first. This is the reason why I am so honoured and so privileged to be working with my officers because that trust was also bestowed to me as their long time leader. “
The FYSS Induction of the re-elected officers was conducted by Ms. Wai Young, MP of South Riding followed by the Awarding of Certificates of Greetings and Commendation to Mr. Mercado for his continuous ten years as the President- elect of the Forever Young Seniors Society. In addition, FYSS Board of Directors presented the Meritorious Award for his exemplary performance as President. Mr. Mercado, is also the President of the Confederation of the Filipino Canadian Associations (CON- FICA), composed of five (5) seniors association in BC . A retired businessman, he was a Maharlika Award 2012 recipient.
The 12th Anniversary and Christmas celebration of Forever Young coincided with the traditional coronation of Ms. FYSS Anniversary Queen of 2015, Ms. Modesta Cara, an entrepreneur from Nueva Ecija, a landlocked province of the Philippines located in the Central Luzon region. She was escorted by her husband of 56 years, Mr. Angeles Cara. She was crowned by the precedent Ms. Anniversary Queen of 2014, Ms. Elsie Frias, assisted by the CEO of the Reyfort Media Group, Mr. Rey Fortaleza and wife, Cely together with MP Wai Young.
