  • Gerald and Kim reunite in new drama series

According to Kim Chiu, there’s awkwardness between her and former beau Gerald Anderson when they first reported on the set of their reunion soap opera Ikaw Lang ang Iibigin.

“I guess that’s understandable because the last time we worked together was some five years ago. In our first few taping days for our latest show, we really felt awkward because we’re not that super close as friends since we parted ways. We would just exchange ‘Hi’s!’ whenever we stumble upon each other on events or live shows like in ASAP.

“Then we were doing scenes in which we’re chummy-chummy with each other. It was just awkward. It’s not really easy, you know, specially we’re with other people who know what we’ve gone through in the past. The thing is we’re both professional. That helped us to do the scenes right,” she avers.

Their maturity level at this point is admirable.

“Yes, I think so! Our working relationship is fine—there’s no wall between us. We learned a lot from that bittersweet experience. Look at us now. It was providential that those things happened when we were still young.”

Seven years after their love story ended, Kim realized one important factor to completely heal and move on.

“Forgiveness. That’s the only thing that can make you genuinely happy. If you don’t know how to forgive, you’ll have a heavy baggage to carry in your life. You will get tired eventually.”

For the lovely actress, it’s essential to have peace of mind.

“As the old saying goes, ‘All’s well that ends well.’ Gerald and I are okay. At least, everybody’s happy,” states Kim. (J.P. Gonzales, MS)

    Coleen is the new villain

Why did Coleen Garcia accept a villain role in “Ikaw Lang ang Iibigin” when she’s already doing lead roles in both movies and TV soaps?

“Actually, noon ko pa gusto gumawa ng contravida roles, para maiba naman,” she answered. “As an actress, gusto ko palagi ng bagong challenge, ibang role, different from the past roles I’ve done before, so sobrang masaya ako rito sa ‘Ikaw Lang ang Iibigin.’ Maganda ang role ko as Isabelle, ex-girlfriend ni Jake Cuenca. We both work ni Jake in the same company making energy drinks and I resented it nang kunin niya si Kim na endorser so I will  try to make Kim’s life miserable.”

About her boyfriend, Billy Crawford, can she truly feel and say na “siya lang ang iibigin” nito?

“Oo naman. Nag-propose na nga siya at ikakasal na kami next year. Our target is April next year para one year ang preparation. Mag-se-seminar na nga kami sa church as our marriage preparation. Hindi naman ako magye-yes sa kanya kung hindi ko napi-feel na totoo ang sinabi niya sa’king ‘Ikaw Lang ang Iibigin.’ I’ve realized now how much of a commitment marriage is. But I’m really happy kasi he’s very supportive naman sa pagiging committed ko pa rin sa career ko.”

So she’s really ready to be Mrs. Crawford?

“Yes, I’m very much excited about it! And I’m happy!”

    Friendship blooms into romance

THEY do not have to admit it anymore as it’s very obvious Angel Locsin and the ex-boyfriend of Bela Padilla, Neil Arce of Arce Ice Cream, are currently making beautiful music together.

Neil fetched Angel on the eve of her 32nd birthday and took her to Tipsy Pig Gastropub, which he owns, for an asalto with guests that included their common friends, Angel’s family and her dad, Angelo Colmenares.

Neil also gave her flowers and a birthday cake and he and Angel were inseparable that night.

Later, he posted their photo with this caption: “Happy birthday, Gel! Amazing what 7 years of friendship has done to us! Excited to see what’s next :)”

The actress responded by thanking Neil for making her birthday “extra special” and included a “blowing kiss emoji” in her message. How sweet, right? Yes, they’ve been good friends for seven years but it’s just recently that romance bloomed between them.

Bela, in turn, said that if Angel and Neil are not yet officially a couple at this time, she is confident that they will be in due time. Bela and Neil are still business associates as co-writers and producers of her movie with Jericho Rosales, “Luck at First Sight.”

Angel’s fans have warned her to be careful because of Neil’s track record. They say they’re praying she doesn’t end up like his ex-girlfriends, Maxene Magalona and Bela Padilla, who got brokenhearted.  (M. Bautista, Malaya)

    Jennylyn enjoys life

Jennlyn Mercado’s personal and professional lives, she said, are sizzling.

“Parang steak,” she said with a laugh.

As is common knowledge, Mercado has rekindled her romance with actor Dennis Trillo. She has never been so happy and secured.

The couple just arrived from South Korea where they fetched Jennylyn’s father, who has been residing there for the past several years. He and Jennylyn’s mother, who is now dead, separated when Jennylyn was a toddler.

“Open book naman ang naging buhay ni Jennylyn, ‘di ba?” related someone close to her. “Her mother had to work abroad so she was left with her stepfather, who abused her. It was her late adoptive mother (Lydia Mercado) who cared for Jennylyn until she became a big star.

“Her Mama Lydia died last year. Her husband, Jennylyn’s adoptive dad, passed away years ago,” our informer further related.

Jennylyn’s dad, who now lives with her, immediately doted on her 8-year-old son, Alex Jazz.

“Mahal na mahal din ni Alex Jazz ang kanyang lolo,” Jennylyn said.

“And mahal na mahal din ni Dennis ang anak ko. At magkasundong magkasundo rin sila ng father ko.”

Her new soap, “My Love from the Stars,” an adaptation from a popular Korean novel and co-starring her with new Kapuso talent, Gil Cuerva, is due to air soon.

She will soon start work on a new movie for Reality Entertainment under director Erik Matti.

Quantum Films has also asked her to reunite with Jericho Rosales and director Dan Villagas for a Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) entry this 2017.

Two years ago, Quantum Films, Jennilyn, Jericho, and Direk Dan made the MMFF topgrosser, “Walang Forever.” (E. Ramos, Malaya)
