  • In the “season of blooming”, ABS-CBN Regional Network Group’s Kapamilya Karavan went up to the Summer Capital of the Philippines to bring the hottest young stars to join in the Panag­benga festival which coincides with Baguio City’s Centennial celebra­tion. Flowers were in full bloom and the air was in its coolest as Kapamilyas of all ages who were in a festival mode joined in the festivi­ties put together by ABS-CBN CH3 Baguio and 103.1 MOR Baguio. Kim Chiu, Gerald Anderson and the stars of Parekoy John Prats, Zanjoe Marudo and Jason Gainza entertained the spectators of the Float Parade as they did a live feed from the Athletic Bowl of the Burn­ham Park for ASAP ’09. SM Baguio was never the same again as Bagu­io residents and vacationers filled “The Drive” to catch a glimpse of the Tayong Dalawa leads Kimer­ald, the Parekoy boys John Prats, Zanjoe Marudo & Jason Gainza plus PDA Scholars Bugoy Drilon and Liezl Garcia. It was capped off by rocking numbers by Pupil and Baguio’s local bands.

    kapamilyaThe mini concert/show started with parlor games for the audience hosted by local TV and radio per­sonalities of ABS-CBN Baguio. A “Bring Me” contest lead by local brought the geared-up-for-the cold crowd on their feet and the fastest ones won Pinoy Fear Factor shirts courtesy of ABS-CBN Licensing. The crowd went crazy when it was time for the Parekoy number.

    The 3 charming comedians danced and sang to the show’s theme song. They warmed up to the audience through their on the spot punch lines which sent everyone laughing. Scholar Liezl captivated the fans with her sweet, distinct voice via the song “Take A Bow”. The mere mention of Schol­ar Bugoy’s name sent the crowd screaming and cheers became louder when he went onstage. He sang his number one hit “Paano Na Kaya?”. Then the two did a well applauded duet “If I Were A Boy”. The fans were ecstatic when they saw Gerald Anderson and Kim Chiu. This is the first time they went back to Baguio after their recent taping for Primetime Bida’s “Tayong Dalawa”. Pupil heated up the stage through their elec­trifying performances and rocking numbers. In between these much awaited numbers, local hosts of TV Patrol Northern Luzon Dhobie De Guzman & Pia Gutierrez, Mag TV Na, Atin To’s Anna Lyn, Archie, Kiko and Ara and Naimbag Na Morning Kapamilya’s Archie Cen­zon, Pia Gutierrez and Butch Men­dizabal did special dance and song numbers.

    The evening’s highlight was ABS-CBN’s President Charo San­tos Concio’s video greeting meant for all the people of Northern Lu­zon. The audio visual also includ­ed greetings of various ABS-CBN news and entertainment personali­ties as well as the evolution of ABS­CBN Baguio through the years. The ABS-CBN Regional Net­work Group’s Kapamilya Karavan at the Panagbenga truly made everyone’s weekend an event to remember. It continues to travel to various regions during their fes­tivals to keep the Kapamilya spirit alive in all corners of the country.
