  • herculesGo with the flow and by all means take in Hercules. Blessed be the wise man/ woman at Paramount Pictures for signing heavyweight star Dwayne Johnson on the dotted line for this sandals and sword saga. Full of spark and emotion – yes emotion – this action adventure is currently triumphing at Cineplex Odeon arenas around B.C.

History buffs and fans of mythology will be in seventh heaven once the dust settles and the action moves forward. Family background provides insight into the motivation if this wicked warrior who tangles with an evil emperor or two. Greece is the battleground for survival as Hercules links up with an untrained army in hopes of saving the empire.

Subterfuge is everywhere and hiding In Every quarter as the muscleman winds up in a host of precarious situations. Whether it’s tangling with scores of wild animals or taking on a superior army Mr. Hercules proves his mettle and then some.

Aided and abetted by a superb supporting cast who all seem to be having a grand old time with this tongue in cheek nonsense director Brett Ratner (Rush Hour) hits all the right notes. Convincing as evil monarchs are noted thespians John Hurt and Joseph Fiennes while likeable Ian McShane gets to ham it up as a confidante of this Bronze Age man of steel.

Sweeping battles that will test your knowledge of military strategy, sly one-liners,  unexpected obstacles and a fun-filled feeling make Hercules solid over the top entertainment. And as a bonus this film is made in 3-D and the visuals are out of this world.

Get ready to rock and roll as The Rock continues to grow in depth as an actor. Trust Dwayne Johnson to come of age with his dynamic portrayal of this ancient warrior from the Gods. Brawn and buff never looked so appealing.
