He is known as a weather man and as a trivia king. Now, he is regarded as an environmental hero. Kim Atienza recently received the Fr. Neri Satur Award for Environmental Heroism, which recognized his advocacy for environ mental awareness and biodiversity conservation and his effective hosting of the reality adventure travel show “Matanglawin.”
“Ang mga taong nanonood ang inspirasyon ko talaga. Kahit nakakapagod ang ginagawa namin at medyo delikado, nagkakaroon talaga ng meaning at advocacy. Lalo kong huhusayan,” he said. In just one year, “Matanglawin” bagged eight other recognitions from prestigious award-giving bodies such as the Golden Dove Awards, PMPC Star Awards, Anak TV Seal and Asia Pacific Broadcasting Union.
