FORMER child star Aiza Seguerra said she planed the proposal to girlfriend Liza Diño since last year and hinted a possible California wedding. In “Buzz ng Bayan” episode aired over the weekend, the singer said she thought of the engagement as early as November 2013. She asked a friend, playwright George de Jesus, to make some time for the special day.
“Matagal ko ng naiisip. Dapat sana gagawa muna kami ng musical play. But we didn’t have time. So, I asked our friend who is a playwright if he can lend us his script,” Seguerra said. “Sabi ko I’m planning to have a proposal and he got excited. Sabi niya, ‘Sige, babaguhin ko ang dulong part para maipasok natin ang proposal.”
Came “Kung Paano Maghiwalay,” a small theater production staged Friday evening at Teatro Hermogenes Ylagan in University of the PhilippinesDiliman. Seguerra and Diño both starred in the said project. Seguerra went down on one knee and asked her girlfriend’s hand in marriage in front of guests, close friends and family members.
Diño said she had no idea of Seguerra’s plan. “Wala akong kaalam-alam. It was so well-planned. Everybody was in it and she made it a point to make it like official,” she said. Diño, who is a permanent resident of Los Angeles, California, shared they might take advantage of the same-sex marriage law in the said state.
“We want din naman the privileges of normal sexual couples get,” she added. Diño, an actress, added that everything in her life now is place. “For me, I belong to her, we belong to each other. So, I’m happy. I’m happy that we’re finally going towards that direction that we can seal this relationship.”
