Former world champion Alex Pagulayan bowed to Neils Feijen of the Netherlands, 8-2, in the semifinals of the 2013 World Pool Masters 9-Ball tournament held at the Metrodome Leisure Complex in Barnsley, Great Britain. Pagulayan, a triple gold medalist in the 2005 Manila Southeast Asian Games and 2004 World 9-Ball titlist made it to the semifinals by nipping Kim Ga -Young of South Korea in the Last 16 (8-2) and Chris Melling of Great Britain in the quarterfinals (8- 4).
The Filipino, nevertheless, earned a $5,000 consolation purse for reaching the Final Four stage.
Feijen eventually took the crown by surviving Darren Appleton of Great Britain in the finals, 8-6. Feijen pocketed $20,000 while Appleton received $10,000.
Legendary cue master Efren “Bata” Reyes was not as magical this time as he succumbed to Mika Immonen of Finland, 6-8, in their Last 16 match. Still, Reyes got $2,000 in the tournament sanctioned by the World Pool- Billiard Association. (E. Nogue, MT)
