Despite all the accusations on the steroid fiasco involving seven-time world champion Manny Pacquiao, many are still hoping that his fight with big-mouth Floyd Mayweather, Jr. will soon materialize in any way. A bold prediction uttered by Pacquiao’s trainer Freddie Roach referring to what many describes as the fight of the decade. You can’t blame boxing aficionados to get disappointed as they waited for this blockbuster brawl between these two gutsy boxers only to end up waiting for nothing.
Boxing fans knew that this fight can surely provide an spectacular show inside the ring and they’ve been longing to see the two pugs collide. Roach believes that based on the impact of this hype to the public, there is still a possibility that his Filipino icon protégée can exchange blows with May-weather Jr, in the near future.
“When fight time [with Mayweather] eventually comes around ... we’ll have the perfect game plan. There are I’ve found some things he does really well. He’s good. Whatever personal things there are ... I talk **** about him, he talks **** about me, but I think have respect for each other.”
“I like Floyd Jnr. I have no problems with his b******, or trash talk, it sells fights, but if we get him in a ring, we’ll beat him. I studied him. He sucks you in, he let Ricky Hatton win a couple of rounds, gave Hatton confidence, let Hatton come after him, and Hatton was all set up. You have to be very, very intelligent when you fight him.”
Not only Roach who are mum on sealing this mega fight but also Golden Boy promotion boss Oscar dela Hoya.
The former six-time world champion is also hoping this bout would happen soon like what boxing experts is expecting. He said that the performance-enhancing drug controversy will end and it’s only a matter of resolving it as soon as possible to stage the gigantic fight. De la Hoya must be thinking of a huge money his promotion gave away after the ruckus created by the fatherand-son tandem against Pacquiao.As a result, the people’s champ is itching to fight Mayweather Jr. at the soonest time so the former can finally shut up the latter.
