May 10 RP elections in focus

As the Philippine polls draw closer, is­sues and concerns regarding the possi­bility of failure of elec­tions are beginning to swirl. Not a good sign indeed for Filipinos who are longing for a big change that may hopefully transform the country into a more stable nation. People are begin­ning to have a per­ception that this com­ing May 10 election would be surrounded by controversy and re­sult to the installation of a military junta.

Will it be a deja vu for Manny Pacquiao or a double celebration for him this time? We’re referring to coming elections in the Philippines, wherein the current seven-time world boxing champion wouldn’t want a dupli­cate of his dismal show­ing in 2007 election. The people’s champ ran for congressman three years ago but was badly beaten by Rep. Darlene Antonino Cus­todio by a wide margin of 37,00 votes.
